Connect with VT CARES harm reduction services, find our mobile vans in
real time, receive notifications, send private messages, request services, access a
library of safer use videos and contact us anonymously through this secure mobile
app.
People who use drugs can access support in a variety of ways. A person can opt in to
receive notifications from VT CARES Syringe Service Program. Notifications are based
on the region a person receives services. Notifications include alerts when: a mobile
van/vehicle enters a region, office hours or location changes, incentives are
available, clusters of overdoses occur in a region, and other safer use messages. Users
of the mobile app can send messages from the app to VT CARES staff through a chat
feature that provides anonymity. A person can request a phone call or receive and send
messages directly in the app.
In addition to a person requesting both mobile and in office services, the
app also provides a real time list showing where and when harm reduction services are
available. A person will know where to get naloxone, fentanyl test strips, sterile syringes
and other drug use equipment, wound care supplies and get connected with a case
manager if desired.
There is a video library available on topics such as how to use naloxone (Narcan) and
fentanyl test strips, stories from people who use Vermont CARES services and more.
This mobile app aims to increase access to harm reduction services in Vermont, provide
a safe space for people to connect with services and increase the efficiency of mobile
services in rural communities by helping users of the app find and access life-saving
harm reduction services.
